a week in Lake Tahoe with friends

The girls and I had an amazing week in Lake Tahoe with great friends! Samantha rented a cabin that was within walking distance to the sate line and asked if the girls and I wanted to join her for the week. Well Aaron was out of town working so it all worked out perfectly! We headed up on a Tuesday and hung out at the cabin for the day. The kids all had a blast playing together, riding scooters, putting on parades, having dance parties and just being kids. On Wednesday we spent the entire day at the lake. We went to the beach that we had just been to a few weeks before for Amanda and Corey's wedding. Little did I know, it was a private beach and you needed a beach pass to get on. OOPS! Well good thing Anna's brother was with us who is a local and he got us in. It was the most amazing beach. Clean bathrooms, playground, snack stand and of course amazing beach. After playing all day it was back to the cabin for dinner and card games.

Thursday was our day for adventures. We headed out to one of my FAVORITE spots in Tahoe, Tallac Historic Site. We toured the Baldwin house then headed to the Pope house where we bought tickets and went on the house tour. It was amazing. Even though the girls and I had been to there before we had never gone on the tour. I was kind of nervous going inside a historic home with 7 kids . . . but they were amazing and all learned a thing or two about life in the early 1900's - like kids were to be seen and not heard! That was shocking to them! After touring the grounds we headed to the visitors center and went on the rainbow trail to Taylor creek to see the underwater trout habitat. After a fun nature walk we headed back into town where we went out to dinner then headed to the ice cream parlor for some cones. It was a full and fun day!

Friday we headed out to the Nevada side of the lake and again, spent the entire day at the beach playing. By the time we got back to the cabin the clouds were rolling in and thunder started to rumble. The kids were SO excited to see a lightning storm and rain in the summer! Unfortunatley, all good things must come to an end and Saturday we had to pack it up and head home. At least we had something great waiting for us at home . . . . DADDY!
